BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – A GoFundMe page has been set up for a Belle Fourche man who was assaulted and sent to the hospital this past week.
The family of Dan Dittman say the GoFundMe page was created to help Ditmann with his medical expenses.
Arrested in connection with the crime was Sheldon LaPoint, who is currently being held at Meade County Jail under aggravated assault charges after being arrested in Spearfish on Tuesday.
Police also say LaPoint ran over and killed Dittman’s dog.
The family says Dittman was assaulted at the Riverside Campground, where LaPoint and another woman were staying. Dittman is the owner of the campground and family members say LaPoint was a tenant behind on payments.
Dittman remains in the hospital due to his injuries.
So far, the GoFundMe has raised just over $5,000 to help the Dittman family.
