PIERRE, S.D. – The Governor was also asked about the status of the 80th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally today.
Noem says as of now, there has not been any planning one way or another yet.
“There has not been planning for the rally knowing that we would anticipate peaking in mid-June, that we could end up curving down, but still have infection rates in the state come August, but dealing with those events as they come up.”
The governor said as they move forward, they will take into account every model available to them to make a wise decision.
On that note, Noem said each and every day we go forward, we are in a better position to make good decisions that are appropriate with more facts and more information.
This year’s Rally is slated to begin officially on August 7th.
The city of Sturgis so far had indicated the event is still on.
