Grass fire near New Underwood burns nearly 350 acres

NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. — A weekend fire south of New Underwood has been contained.

According to a Facebook post, a 349-acre fire broke out over the weekend near New Underwood.

No animals, firefighters or civilians were harmed in the fire.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire, including the Box Elder, Wasta, Wall, Elm Springs, Rapid Valley, North Haines, Folsom, Scenic volunteer fire departments, the Ellsworth Air Force Base and two state engines.
