Great Plains Fire reports weekend fire starts

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sunday fire report from Great Plains Dispatch listed a couple of new fire starts.

The Feed Fire was reported Sunday morning at approximately 11:44 a.m. It was located 2 miles northeast of Angostura Reservoir on private land.

The fire, which was human caused, burned 8.2 acres and was controlled Sunday afternoon.

The Koenix Fire, reported Saturday 15 miles northwest of Pierre, was contained and controlled by Sunday and burned just over 306 acres.

And, the Taco Fire, also reported Saturday, continued to be fought Sunday near Cherry Creek on the Cheyenne River Reservation.

The fire has burned approximately 950 acres and was listed as 10-percent contained.

The cause of the fire was not known as of the latest report.
