SPEARFISH, S.D. – A ceremonial groundbreaking was held Thursday for the new terminal building at the Black Hills airport in Spearfish.
Adam McMahon, Public Works Director for the City of Spearfish says the $3 million project owned by the city of Spearfish, had some much-needed help from many sources, including the FAA and the State of South Dakota.
According to McMahon, the new terminal at Black Hills Airport will be placed at the center of the current access route to the parking area, with a brand-new access road being built to the right of it.
When Scull Construction is finished building the structure designed by Mead and Hunt and Williams & Associates, the facility will offer an upgraded experience.
Estimated completion date is October of next year.
In the meantime, other projects will be ongoing, such as resurfacing the tarmac in some areas and will be joined by expanding the footprint of that tarmac area to include where the old terminal stands.
