RAPID CITY, S.D. – Several Rapid City Area Schools were forced to cancel in-class learning Friday due to the number of COVID-19 and other winter illness cases.
According to Thursday numbers from the district, nearly 600 students and 100 teachers are out of class.
RCAS Superintendent Dr. Lori Simon said in a statement that “our schools and district programs are being impacted by COVID-19, influenza and other winter illnesses.”
The schools affected included North an South Middle School; Canyon Lake, Black Hawk and Rapid Valley Elementary.
Custer has also decided to close Monday because of the number of illnesses.
At Douglas, schools have moved to a Phase 2, mask requirement, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
