PIEDMONT, S.D. —Area fire departments responded to a wildland and structure fire in the Piedmont area Saturday afternoon.
The Piedmont fire Department says the fire began in hay bales before spreading to a pole barn on a ranch on Elk Creek Road.
Crews from Piedmont, Black Hawk, Rapid City and Highway Patrol responded to contain the fire.
Officials say that the barn received significant damage, but no injuries to public or responding firefighters were reported.
