Health Department lists 174 new COVID-19 cases; three new deaths in the Black Hills

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 174 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, with 48 of them listed as probable.

There were 9 new, COVID-19 related deaths Thursday, with one death listed out of Pennington County, one in Meade County and one in Custer County. The total number of deaths statewide rose to 1,788.

Active cases fell by 83 today, totaling 2,517, and the number of people hospitalized dropped 5 to 126.

In the Black Hills, Pennington County recorded 20 new cases with one of them listed as probable.

Meade County had 2 new, confirmed cases and a probable case and Lawrence County had one confirmed case.

Elsewhere, Butte, Fall River and Oglala Lakota each added 2 new cases and Custer County added one new case.
