Health Department reports 51 new COVID cases Friday along with five new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The state Department of Health reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 in their Friday report.

Active cases have dropped to 3,016 and the number of hospitalizations is down to 88.

Five new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,853. Of the new deaths, two were out of Pennington County.

New cases across the Black Hills area totaled 16. Pennington County reported 8 of the new cases, Meade County had four, Lawrence County tallied 3 and there was one new case reported out of Butte County.
