Health Department reports 553 total new COVID-19 cases; three new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported 553 total new COVID-19 cases, with 120 of those listed as probable.

Active cases are up to 7,526 and the number of people hospitalized was back up to 214. Monument Health reports 104 of the COVID-19 hospitalizations with 22 in the I.C.U. and 16 on ventilators. The hospital has been converting regular beds over to I.C.U. beds after running out earlier this week.

Three new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,096.

In Pennington County, there were 162 total new cases with 42 of those listed as probable.

Lawrence County added 25 new cases and Meade County had 28 confirmed new cases with 3 probable new cases.

Butte County had 28 total new cases with one of those listed as probable.

Elsewhere across the Black Hills area, Custer had 15 new cases, Fall River added 4, Oglala Lakota reported 5 and Harding County had one new case.
