Health Department reports additional case of COVID-19; a female traveler in Minnehaha County

UNDATED – The latest COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health indicates another positive test in Minnehaha County.

As has been the case with the all the other residents, the latest person to test positive had been traveling outside the state.

The latest case is a female in her 50’s.

There have now been 11 cases of COVID-19 in the state with one death. That person, a Pennington County resident, died at a hospital in Mitchell and had underlying health problems. The male, in his 60’s, never got back to western South Dakota before he died, meaning there have been no COVID-19 cases in Western South Dakota.

To date, 551 negative tests have come in and there are 35 pending tests today.

Because the latest positive test result was from a person who had been traveling, there is still no community-wide spread of COVID-19 in the state.
