Health Department reports just over 600 new COVID-19 cases, one new death Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported 605 new cases of COVID-19 in their Wednesday report. Of those 605, there were 169 listed under the probable  category.

Active cases across the state rose to 7,714 and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus decreased by 10 to 226.

One new death was reported. The death was a man in the 60-69 age range reported from Pennington County. The state’s death toll rises to 2,109.

Numbers across the Black Hills region included 131 new cases in Pennington, of which, 38 were listed as probable.

Meade County added 25 new cases Wednesday and Lawrence County reported 22 confirmed cases and one probable case for a total of 23.

Butte County listed 18 new cases and Oglala Lakota County added 12 confirmed and one probable case.

Elsewhere, Custer had 6 confirmed and 3 probable, Fall River County reported 2 confirmed, one probable and Harding County added 3 confirmed and one probable.
