Health officials report 148 new COVID-19 cases along with 7 new deaths in Saturday report

PIERRE, S.D. – Saturday’s COVID-19 report showed 148 new cases with 53 of them listed as probable.

Seven new deaths were also reported, sending the state’s total since the pandemic began to 1,838. One of the new deaths was reported out of Pennington County, where there have now been 183.

Active cases dropped 61 Saturday to 2,119 and the number of people hospitalized dropped by 2 to 82.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 29 new cases.

Pennington County had 21 of the new cases, sending their cumulative total to 12,601.

Lawrence County had 4 new cases to send their total to 2,785 and Meade County added one new case for a total of 2,524.

Custer added two new cases and Butte County added one new case.
