Health officials report 24 new COVID-19 related deaths Thursday

PIERRE, S.D. – Another 24 COVID-19 related deaths were listed in the daily report from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The new deaths raise the state’s death toll to 1,763. Of the new deaths, there was one in Pennington County and one in Lawrence County. Pennington County’s death toll is 168 while Lawrence County’s death toll rises to 41.

The new deaths were among 7 women and 17 men with one victim listed in the 30-39 age range.

New cases today included 134 confirmed cases and 53 probable cases.

In Pennington County, there were 12 new, confirmed cases and 3 probable cases. The county’s total rises to 12,310 and there are 348 active cases.

Both Lawrence and Meade each confirmed 3 new cases Thursday. Active cases in Lawrence County drop to 44 and active cases in Meade total 79.

Elsewhere across the Black Hills area, there were 3 new, confirmed cases in Oglala Lakota County and Fall River had one new probable case.
