Health officials report 267 new cases of COVID-19 Monday

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 267 new cases of COVID-19 in their Monday report.

Along with the decreased number of new cases were the number of active cases, which tumbled another 172 today to 6,523.

After several days of declining hospital numbers, however, total hospitalizations rose Monday by 14 to 288.

There were no new deaths reported for the second day in a row. The state’s death toll remains at 1,446.

New cases across West River totaled 103 with Pennington County reporting 43. The total number of cases in Pennington rises to 10,950 and active cases decreased to 897.

Lawrence County added 12 new cases and Meade County reported 7. Active cases in Lawrence County fall to 143 and in Meade County, they have decreased to 148.

Other new cases across West River Monday include 18 in Dewey, 8 in Butte, 4 in Oglala Lakota, 3 each in Custer, Fall River and Haakon and one each in Corson and Jackson counties.

As for a vaccination update, so far, 9875 Pfizer doses have been administered to 9,875 individuals. 4,294 doses of Moderna have been administered to 4,294 individuals.

The total number of vaccine doses is at 14,799.
