Health officials report 555 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, seven new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 555 new cases of COVID-19 in their Wednesday report. Of those new cases, 146 are listed as probable.

Seven new deaths were reported today, sending the state’s death toll to 2,277. Two of those deaths were out of Butte County.

Active cases have risen to 6,290 and the number of people hospitalized was up to 233.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 76 new cases, with 15 of those considered as probable.

Meade County had the next highest amount of new cases with 15 confirmed and 4 probable for a total of 19.

Lawrence County added 16 new cases and Butte County listed 10.

Elsewhere, Fall River County tallied 12 new cases today, Oglala Lakota County added 4 and there were 3 new cases in Custer County.
