PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 801 new COVID-19 cases in their Sunday report.
One new death was reported, sending the state’s death toll to 943. The one death today follows yesterday’s new daily high of 54.
Active cases dropped 176 Sunday to 16,930 but the number of people hospitalized went up by 5 to 544.
New cases across West River counties totaled 297.
Pennington County reported 139 new cases Sunday, sending their total to 8,604 with 1,879 active.
Lawrence County added 31 new cases for a total of 2,009 and 405 active.
Meade County reported 22 new cases and their cumulative total rose to 1,737 with 352 remaining active.
Other new cases across West River include 13 in Perkins, 12 in Oglala Lakota, 10 in Dewey, 9 in Todd, 8 in Ziebach, 7 each in Butte and Custer, 6 in Tripp, 5 each in Corson and Haakon, 4 each in Fall River and Mellette, 3 each in Lyman, Gregory and Bennett, 2 each in Stanley and Jackson and one each in Harding and Jones.
