Health officials report six new deaths, 111 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday

PIERRE, S.D. – Six new deaths were reported in the Sunday COVID-19 update from the South Dakota  Department of Health. Of those six, one was out of Pennington County. The state’s death toll since the pandemic began rose to 1,844.

New cases totaled 111 with 11 of the listed as probable. Active cases decreased by 46 to 2,073. The number of people hospitalized due to the virus was up 5 Sunday to 87.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 15 new, confirmed cases, raising the cumulative total to 12,616.

Lawrence County had 4 new, confirmed cases Sunday and Meade County listed just one.

The cumulative total in Lawrence County is 2,789 and the total in Meade County is 2,525.

Other new cases Sunday included 2 in Custer and one in Oglala Lakota County.
