RAPID CITY, S.D. – The hearings continue for a man from New York who is charged with counts of murder in Rapid City.
Arnson Absolu from the Bronx, New York was arrested on September 3, 2020 in New York and charged in connection with the deaths of Charles Red Willow and Ashley Nagy.
The debate in court continues to be whether Absolu’s prior criminal history is relevant to this case, and whether or not he can be sentenced more harshly for having prior acts. Judge Robert Gusinsky clarified that the defense isn’t objecting that the prior acts occurred, but that those acts aren’t probative to the triple murder case.
Prosecuting attorney’s will be filing motions regarding Absolu’s criminal history in the next few weeks. Court documents indicate his jury trial is scheduled to begin in early January.
