SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota State Track and Field Meet is underway in Sioux Falls, and some Sturgis Scoopers wasted no time in making some noise.
Aiden Hedderman is gearing up for Saturday’s 110-meter hurdles finals by posting the top time in the prelims today.
Hedderman finished first in a blistering time of 14.25 seconds. Hedderman says he has been working on improving his start off the block.
Hedderman owns the school record with a time of 14.27 – and this 14.25 prelim time is now a personal best for Aiden.
Hedderman also competed in the pole vault finals Thursday, where he turned in a third place finish.
In other action Thursday the Scooper boys won the 4×800 meter relay in a time of 8:08.40. Stevens came in second. The Scooper girls 4×800 meter relay team placed fourth.
Hill City won the Class A boys 4×800 meter relay.
In some completed field events Thursday, Ciana Stiefel of Custer won the Class A girls pole vault and Rapid City Central’s Coy Urban won the boys Class AA high jump with a leap of 6-07.00. Brynn Nelson of Rapid City Stevens claimed the javelin throw and Chase Maher of Rapid City Christian won the Class A pole vault.
And in Class B, White River’s Ethan Wilson won the boys shot put with a throw of 58-feet, 3 inches. Kadoka’s Lincoln Koehn was second.
