Hedderman wins hurdles at Festival of Relays

RAPID CITY, S.D. – In track and field action Tuesday, Sturgis’ Aidan Hedderman added another 110 meter hurdle medal to his collection, as he captured the event in a time of 14.45 at the Festival of Relays in Rapid City.

Hedderman also added another first place medal in the pole vault with an even 14-00.00.

In the relay races, the Stevens Raiders dominated the boys side. The Raiders won the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, 4×800 and the 800 medley relay. Spearfish captured the 1,600 medley.

Elias Gillen of Stevens won the shot put and the discus.

Dalyn Dschaak gave Sturgis another win on the day as he captured the javelin.

Winning the boys high jump was Jack Morgan of Stevens and his teammate Jess Christensen won the long jump. Rapid City Central’s Coy Urban wins the triple jump.

On the girls side, Kori Keil of Spearfish won the 3,200 meters and Jada Backes of Rapid City Central won the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles.

In the relay races, Stevens won the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400. Spearfish edged out the Raiders in the 4×800 but Stevens would capture the 800 medley with the Spartans taking the 1,600 medley.

Isabel Higgins of Stevens won two field events, capturing the shot put and discus throw while her teammate Brynn Nelson won the javelin.

Danica Dschaak of Sturgis gave the Scoopers a win in the high jump and teammate Avery Marler captured the long jump. Gretchen Adamski of Spearfish won the pole vault and Sydney Hughes of Stevens captured the triple jump.
