High winds wreak havoc on high profile vehicles Thursday

STURGIS, S.D. – A high wind warning for most of South Dakota meant wind gust in excess of 65 mph, and wreaking havoc on high profile vehicles on the state’s highways.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says at least 10 semi trucks were blown over and at least one camper was blown over onto its side near Murdo.

The patrol had no reports of serious injuries, but was advising motorists to be cautious.

Breezy conditions are expected to continue into Friday for most of western South Dakota.

On the eastern side of the state, a blizzard warning was in effect for northeastern South Dakota. While only 2-5 inches of snow was expected, wind gusts of 55-60 mph were expected.
