OKATON, S.D. – A Joliet, Ill., man has died as a result of injuries sustained in an Aug. 23, 2020 motorcycle crash west of Okaton.
A 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 248 when it hit a deer that was in the roadway. The driver, 51-year-old Ronald Pilon, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
The driver was taken by ambulance to the Philip hospital and then airlifted to a Rapid City hospital. He died as a result of his injuries on Monday, Sept. 7.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
