HILL CITY, SD – The Hill City Rangers used pinpoint passing and solid ball placement to beat the Sturgis Scoopers in Black Hills Conference action 3-0 on Thursday night at Coach Gins Court.
The Rangers set the tone early, beating Sturgis 25-15 in set one and 25-17 in set two. The Scoopers kept it close in set three and led 23-22 late in the set, until Hill City outscored Sturgis 4-2 to win the match, 26-24 in set three.
Myah Larson led the Rangers with five aces, nine assists and six kills. Grace Pekosh added nine kills and 10 assists. Hill City improves to 11-3 on the season.
Sturgis falls to 2-10 on the year and were led by Olivia Vliem with seven kills. Makenna LaBeau contributed 18 assists.
The Scoopers travel to Spearfish next Tuesday to take on the Spartans.
