Hospitalizations back up over 100, new COVID-19 cases at 263 Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 rose again today and the number of people hospitalized saw a double-digit uptick for the first time since February 11.

New, confirmed cases reported today were 183 with 80 listed as probable.

Active cases continued their decrease as they dropped below 19-hundrd to 1,891.

The number of people hospitalized due to the virus jumped back up over 100 to 102.

One new death was reported Wednesday, sending the state’s death toll to 1,864.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 63 new cases, of which, 16 were listed as probable.

Pennington County had a total of 40 new cases and Meade County added 9.

Lawrence County, Custer County and Fall River County each had 3 total new cases and Oglala Lakota County had 5.
