SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens set a new meet record at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls Friday.
Birnbaum won the 800-meters in a time of 1:50.37 seconds. He currently holds the state record in the 800 and will run the 1,600 meters on Saturday.
Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche claimed the 3,200 meters on Friday, finishing in a time of 9:07.70.
In other track and field action, Ella Bradeen took the 100 and 400 meters at the Sioux Falls O’Gorman Invitational. Lakota Tech’s Taylor Byerly also won two events, the 800 meters and the 1,600 open. Rapid City Central’s Katelyn Beshara won the 3,200.
On the boys’ side, Cael Meisman of Rapid City Stevens captured the Class AA 100 meters while Kayden Hansen of Hot Springs won the Class A 110-meter hurdles.
