I-90 crash at Mile Marker 36 injures two people Tuesday morning

STURGIS, S.D. – An icy stretch of Interstate may be responsible for a one vehicle rollover just outside Sturgis Tuesday morning.

The rollover involved a red Toyota Pickup truck that landed on its roof at the crossover near mile marker 36.

Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says two occupants in the truck were trapped inside by their seat belts. The driver was taken by ambulance to Sturgis Monument Hospital while the passenger was taken via life-flight to Rapid City.

South Dakota Highway Patrol, Sturgis Police, Meade County Sheriff’s Office and Sturgis Ambulance were among those responding to the crash.

Cause of the accident is under investigation by the SD Highway Patrol.
