STURGIS, S.D. – Icy roads on I-90 led to a number of accidents on Saturday according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
One of those crashes was a head on collision Saturday morning four miles east of Sturgis.
Tony Mangan with the Department of Public Safety says remarkably, no serious injuries were reported in that crash.
He says a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling westbound when it lost control due to icy roads and crossed the median, colliding head on with a 2016 Toyota Pickup.
The driver of the Nissan received minor injuries and was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Toyota, along with 5 passengers, were not hurt. He says everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
A second crash happened on I-90 at mile marker 15 at Spearfish.
Mangan says the crash happened when a 2015 Subaru Forester lost control and collided with an eastbound Hyundai Kona.
The driver of the Subaru was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. The driver Hyundai received minor injuries and was transported to the Rapid City hospital.
