Sioux Falls Lincoln wins their fourth straight tennis tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Sioux Falls Lincoln won their fourth straight state girls tennis championship on Friday at the Huether Match Pointe indoor tennis facility in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Lincoln Patriots won a total of five flights in the tournament, three in the Singles Flights and two in the Doubles Flights. Johana Brower won the championship in Singles Flight 1, Elle Dobbs claimed the title in Singles Flight 4, and Avery Blackman took home the gold in Singles Flight 5.

In doubles competition, Johana Brower and Ava Leonard won in Doubles Flight 1, and Avery Blackman and Katie Johnson took the title in Doubles Flight 3.

Girls high school tennis was sanctioned in South Dakota in 1973. Since that time, the Patriots have won a total of thirteen state championships, which includes titles in each of the past four years.

On the boys side, Lincoln high school has been equally, if not more, successful over the years. The sport was sanctioned with the boys division in 1971. Throughout history, the Patriot boys have won a total of seventeen state championship, which includes six-in-a-row over the past six seasons.

Together the Patriots girls and boys have combined to win 30 high school state championships.
