BHSU Mens Basketball - Scott leads the rout of the Trojans

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Led by an early assault from Joel Scott, the Black Hills State University men's basketball team routed Dakota State University 91-53. Scott put up the first ten points of the game for the Yellow Jackets burying the Trojans with a lead they couldn't come back from.

The Trojans were no match for the Yellow Jackets. After barely being able to keep up with Scott's scoring drive, the Trojans quickly fell behind. The Yellow Jackets out scored their opposition by 18 points in the first and 20 points in the second.

On the night, Scott posted 24 points, shooting 9-12 from the field and made 3 of 4 three pointers. He also posted 7 rebounds.

Three other starters posted double digit points with Antonio Capley posting a double - double. He was good for 12 points and pulled down 11 boards. Tyler Oliver shot 66 percent, making six buckets from the field, good for 14 points on the night. He also snagged seven rebounds. Also In double points was Stefan Desnica with his 10 points.

The Yellow Jacket bench scored 29 points and were led by Jordan McGlory. He posted 10 points on 14 buckets and also pulled down three boards.

Overall, BHSU made 37 shots from the field, connecting 58 percent of the time. From beyond the arc they made 8 of 18 attempts. At the charity strip, they shot 60 percent, making 9 of 15 free throws. The Yellow Jackets put up 56 points in the paint and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 23 points off them.

The Green and Gold are next in action almost immediately as they travel south to take on Westminster college December sixth and Dixie State on December seventh.
