Patricia Ann (Brechtel) Pyburn

Patricia Ann (Brechtel) Pyburn

Patricia Ann Pyburn

- July 14, 2020

Armed with her faith, a keen wit, and a dry sense of humor, Patricia Ann (Brechtel) Pyburn, daughter of Robert and Gen (McFarland) Brechtel, was born April 1, 1953, in Rapid City, SD.  Her birth date was appropriate, as she had a penchant for sharing and spreading laughter.  In fact, it is well known that Trish was wrong only once and could give the exact reason, date and time of occurrence, which her husband, Ron Pyburn, has recorded.

Formal schooling commenced in Hill City, SD, until the family’s return to their ranch east of Sturgis, SD.  She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1971.  As her children filtered through school, Trish refocused her attention on obtaining her degree as a registered nurse, a profession for which she was well suited.  Care, compassion and commitment – trademarks of nursing – were exemplified in Trish.

In 2007, Trish married her soulmate, Ron Pyburn, uniting their children of seven into one clan.  In a ceremony inspiring generations, they were joined together in matrimony at their home on Burno Gulch with their son-in-law, Will Spint, officiating.

Trish served her Lord as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, mentor and friend, catechism instructor and nurse.  Her compassion and consideration for other people knew no bounds.  She strove to see the good in everyone and worked tirelessly to help anyone in need.  She served as a city council woman and even delivered a baby in a bathtub as Captain of the volunteer EMS.  Over the past few years, and especially since her retirement as an RN at Fort Meade VA, Trish had assumed a great deal of medical care for her parents.

Surrounded by her loving family, Trish went peacefully in her home on July 12, 2020. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her husband, Ron Pyburn; her seven children, Theresa Chianca, Kristeen Baird-Terzich, Philip (April) Baird, Catherine Spint (Ryan Brown), April (Sterling) Davis, Jenn (Daniel) Miller, Susan (Steven) Doyle, and Gary (Samantha) McCoy; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Trish’s memory also lives on with her parents, Robert and Gen Brechtel; siblings, Genny (Dean) Sexton, Robert (Leann) Brechtel, Hugh (Carol) Brechtel, Vincent (Anne) Brechtel, James (Sherry) Brechtel, Mary (Rick) Karns, Tere (John) Froelich and Anne (Bill) Renn; as well as many nieces, nephews and all who had the opportunity to call her friend.

Trish was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Spint.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with Father Timothy Castor officiating. Committal services will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.kinkadefunerals.com.
