Dora Evelyn Morrison

Dora Evelyn Morrison

Dora Evelyn Morrison

- November 14, 2020

Dora Evelyn Morrison was born to Carl and Evelyn (Driggers) Eddings in Lilesville, NC on April 26, 1938.

Dora married William “Bill” J. Rega on October 15, 1955 and became a military wife and mother to Cheryl L. Rega (1957) and William “Joe” J. Rega, Jr. (1958). They moved around to various states, to Okinawa, and then resided at Ellsworth AFB, SD, and later divorced in 1973.

Dora met Fred L. Morrison and married September 5, 1975 in Box Elder, SD. Fred was in the military and stationed at Ellsworth AFB. To this union, Dora accepted Freddie L. Morrison, Jr. and Russell V. Morrison to our family. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but raising her and Fred’s children were her priority. Once her daughter, Cheryl, married and had Shannon in 1982, she became Shannon’s caregiver so that Cheryl could work. When Shannon had her son, Ayden, in 2000, Dora became Ayden’s caregiver so that Shannon could go to school for nursing and also work. She had so much love and pride for Shannon and Ayden and supported them in every way. As a family we loved to camp, fish, play cards and games, and have family meals. Dora was an awesome cook.

March 27, 2020 was Dora’s saddest time in life with the loss of Fred. She missed him terribly. They were happily married for 44 years and were inseparable.

Dora Morrison, 82, of Rapid City, died Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital

Dora is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Rega; granddaughter, Shannon Whitney; great-grandson, Ayden Whitney; son-in-law, Jim Whitney; adopted daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Leonard Vandermate, all of Rapid City; sisters, Vivian, Rhonda, and Pam; and brother, William, all of North Carolina; and sisters-in-law, Merle Eddings of Panacea, FL, JoAnn of New Jersey, and Jackie of Pennsylvania.
