Scooper girls upset Rapid City Stevens; boys fall

STURGIS, S.D. - Loralee Stock hit a 3-pointer with less than :30 seconds left to lift the Sturgis Scoopers over the Rapid City Stevens in Friday night basketball.

It is the first loss of the season for Stevens.

Sturgis led most of the game, as the Raiders fought back early in the fourth to take a small lead.

Stock dropped in a big 3-pointer with under :30 seconds to play and added two free throws to ice the win.

The Raiders struggled shooting all night and the Sturgis defense kept them in check as well.

Stock finished with 20 points to lead all scorers. Grace Martin led Stevens with 11 points.

Meanwhile, the Raider boys dominated from the opening tip, and beat Sturgis 55-42 Friday night. Stevens outscored Sturgis 17-4 in the opening quarter and never reqlinquished the lead.

Gib Elder led Stevens with 18-points. Ryan Garland led Sturgis with 12 points.

Connor Crane added 11 for the Sturgis and signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Dakota Wesleyan after the game.
