Local World Water Day event planned


Dakota Rural Action - March 28, 2018

RAPID CITY, SD – A local celebration of international World Water Day, a day to celebrate fresh, unpolluted water, will be held at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, SD, Saturday, March 31, 2018.

The free event will include a concert, a silent auction, and snacks from Breadroot Coop.  Vibrant, foot-stomping performances by musicians and spoken-word poets will be interspersed with information sharing about how South Dakotans can protect water resources

The River Liffey Boys will begin the celebration with bluegrass and Celtic rhythms, followed by performances from Steve Thorpe, Linda Boyle, and Anna Robbins. 

The silent auction features textiles, photography, paintings, quilts, jewelry, music CDs by local musicians and locally produced food items.

Booths will provide additional information about protecting the regions water from depletion and pollution caused by mining.  A recap of the closing of the Crow Butte (Cameco) uranium mines in Nebraska and Wyoming is also included in the program.

Admission to the event that runs from 6:00-8:00pm at the Dahl is free to the public.
