National High School Finals Rodeo - Cash Wilson wins saddle bronc title

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - Cash Wilson of Wall is bringing home some hardware.

Wilson captured the saddle bronc championship as the National High School Finals Rodeo wrapped up over the weekend.

Wilson captured an 81-point ride Saturday, valuting him from second to the top of the leader board. Wilson finished with a total of 217 on three head.

His teammates, Trey Elshere and Dylan Schofield, shared 24th place.

Natalie Leisinger of Highmore also had a good finish for team South Dakota. Leisinger finished in second in the reined cow horse competition.

T.J. Schmidt of Belle Fourche placed fourth in the bull riding and Shayla Howell, also of Belle Fourche, finished in 15th in the barrel racing.

Cooper Crago and Bodie Matson of Belle Fourche and Sturgis, respectively, finished in 16th and 20th in the boy's cutting.

Alex Bergeson of Mitchell placed 13th in the steer wrestling.

Kailyn Groves of Faith finished in 22 with Wall's Emilee Pauley finishing in 25th in the girls cutting.

Sam Gropper of Faith came in third in the trap shooting event.

In the team standings, Texas was on top for the girls with Utah in second. Team South Dakota came in fifth place with Wyoming 12th.

In the boys team standings, Texas was first with Utah second. Wyoming placed ninth and South Dakota finished 11th.

In the overall team standings, it was Texas, Utah and Oklahome going one, two three. South Dakota placed seventh overall.
