FAITH, SD – Always a popular time at the Faith Stock Show, the annual parade sets the tone for the six day celebration. This year’s theme of “Sweet Home South Dakota” promises to see some creative ideas, says Paul Delbridge who along with wife Debbie, will lead the colorful lineup as this year’s Parade Marshall’s.

“With the theme this year, I expect a few pranksters around town will have fun with it,” says Paul.  “A lot of businesses put a lot of work to get floats in the parade.”  He added, “Some years back, we cut it back to a one day event but folks were vocal about wanting the parade to run for two days, so we’re back to the original schedule.
“Along Highway 212,  it’s pretty well lined up.”

Being recognized as Parade Marshalls comes with years of support and commitment to the Faith Stock Show & Rodeo, says long-time secretary Gnene Fordyce.

“Paul is a person who has been influential in our community and who has helped out for many years. I’ve been doing this for 25 years. The Delbridge’s have been doing it for longer than that. They always help in any way possible.”

Generations of both Paul and Debbie’s families have played a role during stock show week.

“Debbie’s Dad, Marlin Ingalls was a past president and her Grandfather Walter Ingalls spent many hours helping build the grandstand,” says Paul.  “It’s been a lifetime involvement for both of us – since we were kids.” Paul’s brother Harold was rodeo announcer and parade announcer for several years.

There were times when life kept Paul and Debbie so busy they hardly saw the neighbors. Which is among the reasons folks come to town for stock show.

“I enjoy the rodeos and visiting with people we might not have seen for awhile,” shares Paul.  “A lot of times we get busy in our daily lives and don’t get to see your neighbors as often as we’d like. So we come to town to visit the neighbors.”

While welcoming folks to the 108th Faith Stock Show & Rodeo celebration, Paul is quick to point out that a commitment and devotion from many people have played a role in the community’s success and the ongoing popularity of the Faith Stock Show in the region.

“Everybody owes a big thank you to Carv and Marg Thompson for being among those who were long-time supporters of the parade and Faith Stock Show. We appreciate all they’ve done over the years. They were great promoters for the town of Faith.”

The parade is set for Saturday and Sunday, August 11 & 12, 2018 at 10:00a.m. both days.
