Man charged with threatening school faces federal indictment

News Staff - October 11, 2018

RAPID CITY, S.D. - A Tennessee man who prosecutors say threatened the Red Cloud School was indicted by a federal grand jury this week.

Daniel Richardson Jr. could face more than five years in prison after being charged with making interstate threats and possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Court documents say Richardson made a $1,000 donation to Red Cloud in 2017 and was invited to the school. He subsequently posted threatening videos on You Tube saying disparaging things about Jesuits.

The historically Jesuit Red Cloud School notified tribal police who arrested Richardson when he went to the school on September 21st armed with a .22 caliber revolver.

Richardson is being held in federal custody pending trial.
