Robert was born April 3, 1929, at Cooper, SD, to Uriah and Dora (Taylor) Ginter. He attended school at Cooper and Sturgis, SD.

On November 7, 1946, at age 17, Bob enlisted inthe U.S. Navy. He retired April 7, 1967, as an Aviation Boatswain Mate. He served aboard the ships: Aircraft Carrier USS Badoing Strait CVE-116 (three tours in Korea), Seaplane Tender USS Salisbury Sound AV-13 (two tours to Okinawa and Saigon, Vietnam), Aircraft Carrier USS Randolph CVA-15 (two tours to the Mediterranean Sea), Aircraft Carrier USS Coral Sea CVA-43 (one cruse around Cape Horn), and became a Shell Back. Aircraft Carrier USS Forrestal CVA-59 (two Mediterranean tours) as Hangar Deck Petty Officer. Bob was also stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during the missile crisis.

Robert “Bobby Lee” Ginter, 89, of Sturgis, died at Sturgis Regional Hospital on November 29, 2018.

Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Arlene, of Sturgis; son, Anthony "Tony" (Kathy) Ginter of Lodi, CA; two daughters, Annette Morser of Hayward, CA, and Roberta (Bobbie) Ginter of Stockton, CA; four grandchildren; and sister, Myrna (Dave) Sweitzer of Hudsonville, MI.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Irvin and Darwin; sisters, Laurene and Darlene; infant sister, Kathleen; and son, Robert Ginter, Jr.

BOB WAS A LIFE-LONG FAN OF THE NEW YORK YANKEES.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Visitation will Wednesday from noon until service time at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
