News Staff - February 5, 2019

RAPID CITY, S.D.-- South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) held their annual spring career fair Tuesday.

More than 1,000 students were in attendance at the King Center as 113 employers were on hand to network with potential employees. These employers such as Caterpillar and 3M, come from 24 different states with 47 of them from right here in South Dakota. 21 of these employers participated in their first career fair at the School making it the largest spring career fair ever. Many of the employers will also stay to conduct next-day interviews for internships and full-time positions.

"We do two career fairs a year, one in the spring and one in the fall and we're always, as soon as this one is over we're planning for the fall one," said Matthew Hanley, director, SDSM&T's Career and Professional Development Center. "The fall is usually a little bit bigger which is great also and yeah, we want to keep attracting the companies."

According to the school, 226 Mines' graduates accepted jobs with the 129 employers here in South Dakota.
