Becky Sue Steely

- March 27, 2019

Becky Sue Steely, was born on September 15, 1946 in Boulder, Colorado to Thelma and Oscar Wood.  At a young age, Becky enjoyed being outside and riding horses, goofing around with her brothers and sisters.  She always found a way to have fun and enjoy life from the beginning.  Becky was a mother, a wife, a sister, a great-great-grandma, and a true, honest friend.  She spent her life taking care of people and always enjoyed doing it.

She loved one man and raised 5 kids.  She worked as an aid at Foothills Assisted Living for 10 years and was great at what she did.  Becky was best known for her personality, humor, and most of all, the truckload of sweet banana bread and cookies that were a little too hard to eat without a glass of milk.  She was always in the kitchen, whether it was baking or cooking something special for someone, like her amazing fried chicken and potato salad.  Sundays were the days to show up at Becky's, because she always had a Sunday Dinner on the table, and there was always enough.  She knew how to keep herself busy, because when she wasn't cooking or baking, she was embroidering T-towels and her and her sister were making baby blankets and God only knows what else.

Her favorite thing to do in the summer was go to garage sales with her sister bright and early on Saturday mornings.  Becky was a collector of many things and if you ever needed anything, she would probably have it and a couple to spare, and if she didn’t, she would find you enough so that you had spares.  She was a big animal lover, even though it drove Jake crazy.  She loved having someone to spoil other than him.  She enjoyed her days in Deadwood with her family and friends, and playing cards at the kitchen table.  Becky was a little bit of a firecracker.  She was loud and fun.  She enjoyed picking on the ones she loved, and every one of us had just as much enjoyment picking back, because we just wanted to hear the " YOU ASSHOLES" and see that smile and hear that laugh that could brighten up anyone's day.

Becky loved having visitors come from all around.  She enjoyed hearing about their travels and life stories.  She opened up her home to so many and always made them feel welcome.  She made so many friends and didn't even have to leave home.  Her personality stood apart from anyone else’s, and she took pride in that.  Becky was a tough woman, but anyone who got to know her found out that she had a very amazing soul.  Becky was loved by so many and will be missed forever.  May her spirit live on in all of us.
