Scoopers stay perfect on season with 11-1 win over Deadwood

STURGIS, S.D. - The Sturgis Scooper baseball team remained perfect on the season as they rolled 11-1 over Lead-Deadwood Thursday night.

Sturgis jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and never looked back.

The Scoopers scored runs in the second and third and put the game away with 5 runs in the fifth.

Colton Cruickshank got the pitching win, striking out seven and allow no hits or runs in three innings of work. Alec Keffeler closed things out, striking out three.

Carl Nash helped lead the Scooper offensively, going 2 for 3 with a double and a single. He also scored 2 runs.

Keffeler went 2 for 4, scoring 2 runs and Cedrick Stabber went one for four, scoring a run.

Wyatt VendeVelde takes the loss for Lead-Deadwood, giving up 4 hits and 5 runs. Cody Rakow came in for relief and struck out four.

VendeVelde scored the only run for the Golddiggers.

Sturgis, 4-0 on the season, will play a double-header with Pierre on Friday.
