Daryle John Poling, 72, Lead, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Daryle was born February 4, 1947 to Paul and Kanzie (Kappadahl) Lulai in Devils Lake, ND.  He attended Minot High School and graduated in 1965.  He was called to the service in the US Army on October 14, 1968.  He served our country during the Vietnam War through September 12, 1969.

He moved to Lead in 1972 and began working at Homestake and remained there for 26 years.  During this time he met and married the love of his life, Ginger Poling.  They were married on July 10, 1976.  After the mine closed in 1998 he began working at First Gold Casino and remained there until his retirement in 2017.  After retirement he spent his time fishing, going to sporting events with the grandkids, and riding his lawnmower.  On occasion he would attend demolition derbies. 

Daryle is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; sons, Lars (Mary) and Jason (Crystal); daughters, Krista and Ingrid; best friend, Todd Harter; cousin, Arlene Wells; four grandchildren, Allie, Nate, Levi, and Luke; and one great grandchild, Analeigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kanzie Lulai; brothers, Ronnie and Gary Poling; and sister-in-law, Anna Poling.

Services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Black Hills Funeral Home, 1440 Junction Ave in Sturgis.  Burial will immediately follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army and the Sturgis Volunteer Honor Guard.
