Scoopers takes one of two in Saturday games vs Sioux Falls schools

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. - The Sturgis Scooper baseball team split a pair of games with a couple of Sioux Falls schools in Chamberlain Saturday.

In the first game, the Scoopers lost a hard fought battle to Sioux Falls Washington 3-2. Gage Murphey pitched six strong innings and Ryan Garland and Ridge Inhofer each had a hit. John Fischer had the Scoopers' 2 R.B.I.'s for a strong day at the plate.

In the second game against Sioux Falls O'Gorman, it was a pitching dual and Josh West gave the Scoopers a 1-0 win courtesy of a walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh.

Tristan Walker got the pitching win for Sturgis, striking out ten in a full seven innings pitched.

It's a big win for Sturgis as O'Gorman entered the game the number two team in Class A Baseball, with Sturgis in third.

Also in Chamberlain, Rapid City Stevens dropped two games to O'Gorman and Washington.

The Knights defeated the Raiders 11-1 and the Warriors won 12-2.
