Scoopers take two from Rapid City Central Friday night

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Sturgis Scooper baseball team took two from Rapid City Central in a Friday night twin bill.

In game one, the Cobblers kept Sturgis scoreless until the fifth inning, and that's when the Scoopers took control scoring four runs. John Fischer and Dylan Gillespie started with hits and Ryan Garland brought them home with a triple. Garland then came home on a double by David Anderson, who would also eventually score off a hit by Josh West.

The Scoopers would put the game away in the seventh, scoring 5 more runs to win 9-1. Garland would finish 3 for 3 on the night with 2 R.B.I.'s and 2 runs. Anderson had 2 hits and a run, Stabber added 2 R.B.I.'s and West finished with 2 hits and an R.B.I.

Tristan Walter got the pitching win, going all seven innings and striking out seven.

In the second game, the Scoopers scored 8 runs in the third and 3 in the fifth to end the game in five innings for an 11-1 win. In the third, Garland, Anderson, West, Cedrick Stabber, Manny Gallosa, Tristan Walker, Kelton Olson and Ridge Inhofer all scored runs for the Scoopers. Anderson, West, Stabber, Gallosa and Walter all got on base from being walked.

Olson, Garland and Stabber all had 2 R.B.I.'s to help lead the Scoopers.

Gage Murphey got the pitching win for Sturgis with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

In other Friday night baseball, Brandon Valley took both games of a doubleheader from Rapid City Stevens, 8-5 and 14-4.
