Ronald Dean Perschbacher

- May 19, 2019

Ronald Dean Perschbacher was born August 1, 1959, in Iowa City, IA.  He was the first born of three boys and attended school in Albert Lee, MN, until 1977.  Hen then enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman, continued his education, and received his G.E.D.  Ron was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS.  He received survival training in Alaska, jungle warfare training in Panama, and was stationed on the DMZ in Korea.  He received his wings when he was certified as an Airborne Ranger and also received training in an individual Effectiveness Course, a Recondo Course, and Jump School.  Ron received many certificates, decorations, medals and qualified as marksman with the M-16 rifle and hand grenades.  While serving, Ron loved to cross country ski, body surf in the ocean, and jump or repel out of perfectly good aircrafts.

He had a passion for the martial arts and received a black belt in Tai Kwan Do while growing up in Albert Lea being trained by Yoko Ohno’s brother, Sonny.  Ron pursued his passion and trained in Judo, Jujitsu, Tychee, and Goju Ryu while stationed in Korea.  He lived life tot the fullest.  He was honorably discharged in 1984.

Ron married Audree B. Collins on May 22, 1982.  They were blessed with two sons and raised their family while residing in Sturgis, SD, Clarks Grove, MN, and Newell, SD, before finally settling in Belle Fourche, SD.  Ron worked various jobs from landscaper to certified nurses’ aid before becoming a 4-star technician in the TLE department at Walmart in Spearfish, SD, where he received an award for outstanding performance in customer service.  Shortly after receiving his 10-year pin, Ron became ill and eventually became home bound.

Ron touched many lives and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.  He always had a joke to tell with his infectious laugh or smile.  A music lover, Ron began playing the guitar at the age of 7, had his own band at 15, and even tried his hand at writing several songs.  He also loved to fish and hunt, but these loves paled in comparison to riding his Harley.  These loves live on in his sons.  Ron also had a great love for God, his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.  He attended Black Hills Gospel Assembly Church and was a big help serving during general meetings.

Ron 59, Belle Fourche, lost his long, hard, and courageously fought medical battle and was called home on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, while at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 37 years, Audree; his two sons, Jeremiah (Chelsie) of Sturgis, SD, Zachariah of Belle Fourche, SD; six grandsons; one granddaughter; two brothers, Russ (Peggy) of Minneapolis, MN, Scott (Geanna) of Algona, IA; his dad, Harry (Doris) of Albert Lea, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was also survived by his father-in-law who has since joined him in Heaven.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Lois (Dailey) Perschbacher; his grandparents, and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Kenny Riley officiating.
