Larry was born on September 13, 1942 in Pierre, South Dakota to his parents, Gust and Lucy (Bonhorst) Larson. He graduated Midland High School and later from the University of South Dakota earning a bachelor’s degree in business. He was the president of the school’s Investment Club.

He went to work with his dad at 12 years old at Midland Grain and Lumber to make the grain elevator work. They were successful and were able to make Midland their permanent home for generations to come.

He married Jean Dixon of Pierre in a double wedding with her sister, Judymae, to Raymond Bowers in 1966. They lived in various communities in the upper Midwest after he left the family business and went to work for Wayne Feeds (Allied Mills), which was bought by Hubbard Feeds and later Continental Grain. Larry stayed on with each move. He loved to assist farmers in improvement of their livestock, soil and family’s prosperity.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. One of his last wishes was to be with them after he passed away.

A graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. MDT on Friday, July 5th, 2019 at the Midland Cemetery with Pastor Cindy Bisser officiating.
