BOX ELDER, S.D. – Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday, November 17 at an apartment at Mountain View Village in Box Elder.
Law enforcement was alerted to the incident at approximately 2:16 p.m. The victim, identified as 21-year-old William Medicine Eagle of Rapid City, was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, 28-year-old Joseph Poor Thunder, Jr., also of Rapid City, has been taken into custody and is being held at the Pennington County Jail. He faces charges of First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault Domestic.
The incident is under active investigation by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Box Elder Police Department, and Rapid City Police Department.
