NEWELL, S.D. – A tradition since 1910, the Newell Labor Day Celebration packs a lot of appeal to different interests in a few short days.
Former residents and Newell school alumni are always in the crowds that can number in the thousands for the little town of about 594 people.
The annual Newell Labor Day Rodeo Queen Pageant sets the stage on Saturday, August 26, 2023. The winners of Little Miss, Jr. Miss and Queen will be selected after a full day of competition.
The 13th annual Newell 5K Fun Run/Walk/Bike is Saturday, September 2, 2023. Newell Evangelical Church Parking Lot, Register at 7:00a.m., walkers start at 7:30a.m., run/bike begins at 7:45a.m.

The Whistle Stop Market is set for Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. at the Senior Center. Repurposed furniture, hand-crafted items, vintage finds, antiques, collectibles and more. Also a City Wide Yard Sale and a Flea Market at R&R Campground
The Newell Ranch Rodeo & Ranch Bronc Match is Saturday, September 2, 2023. Ranch Rodeo Calcutta is at 1:30p.m., rodeo at 2:00p.m. The Ranch Bronc Calcutta is at 7:00p.m. Riding at 7:30p.m.
