Jeffrey Strehlow was born at the Hettinger Hospital on January 27, 1962 to Jeannette and Earl Strehlow. Jeff grew up on the farm west of Hettinger with his sister Linda and brother Eugene.
Jeff graduated from Hettinger Public School in May of 1980. He attended ND School of Science in Wahpeton, ND for a short time. He then came home to milk cows on the family dairy farm. He did that until hardship fell on the farm and an auction was held on the cows and machinery. Jeff and his brother, Eugene had major life changes at that time. Jeff was able to buy some of the farm land and continued to live there.
Jeff was married to Sandy Couch on September 9, 1988 and to that marriage a son, Norman was born. Jeff began to grind hay in 1993 with Jim Thormodsgard and eventually bought his own grinder which became his life long career that he surely loved! He also went south combining with his brother, Eugene, from North Dakota to Oklahoma. They enjoyed every minute of working together.
Jeff had a way of getting under people’s skin and giving people a “rash of B.S.” to get a rise out of them. He loved every minute of it!
Unfortunately, Jeff was killed in an accident with his hay grinder truck on July 11, 2024 east of Hettinger, ND. With very heavy hearts we will miss Jeff and his “hearty” laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy and his one son, Norman, his sister, Linda (Tom) Marion, brother, Eugene (Dee) Strehlow, numerous nieces and nephews who Jeff dearly loved. Jeff loved his special dogs, “Snuggles” and “Chip” along with the cats, cattle, horses and chickens too.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, along with numerous aunts, uncles and his mother and father-in-law.
