Junior Legion Tournament – Riders lose two to end season

STURGIS, S.D. – The South Dakota ‘A’ Junior Legion Tournament continued Saturday in Sturgis and the Sturgis Riders, after winning on Friday, dropped two Saturday to end their season.

In the first game of the day, the Riders fell to the Rapid City Post 22 Expos 14-4.

The Expos led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the third, and that’s when they exploded for 8 runs to take a 10-1 lead. The Riders would add 3 in the sixth, but the Expos would end the game in the bottom half of the inning scoring 4 more runs.

Wyatt Anderson led Post 22 with 2 hits and 4 R.B.I.’s.

Hayden Heckenlaible had 2 hits to lead the Riders.

In game two, the Riders dropped a 12-9 game to the Rapid City Post 320 Shooters.

The Shooters held a slim 6-5 lead headed into the bottom of the fifth when they put six more runs on the Riders to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Bryan Roselles had 3 hits for the Shooters and J. Wetzler added 3 R.B.I.’s.

For the Titans, Owen Cass had 3 R.B.I.’s.

The Expos and Shooters will face each other Sunday at Noon at Strong Field.
